An Yhteismetsä (English: “Shared Forest”) is a local shared forest venture and association of forest owners. Forest owners in Finland may join an Yhteismetsä by contributing their forest and land in exchange for shares in the Yhteismetsä. The total forest in the shared forest venture continues to grow with new forest owners joining, and it may expand through new land purchases. Such shared forests ventures are organized all over Finland. The shared forest assets are managed according to the current forestry plan and with PEFC and FSC® certifications. The Yhteismetsä will initiate and execute annual felling and maintenance work of the forest under management.
 

Eevia Health Oy and Havu Health Oy, a start-up focusing on wood-related products, have entered a collaboration agreement with Kauhavan Yhteismetsä regarding harvesting specially selected pine wood and debarking these for Eevia and Havu. The local shared forest venture in Kauhava, South Ostrobothnia, spans nearly 2,000 hectares which have a national Organic Certificate. The three parties will ensure that the harvesting is done sustainably and by local environmental regulations and organic certification. The collaboration also includes obtaining new organic certifications for forest lands, ensuring that raw materials meet the criteria set by various international organic certification bodies and that all harvesting adheres to organic forestry practices.

The collaboration's purpose is to secure an optimal and streamlined supply chain of high-quality forest material with organic certificates and to enable the development of new applications and upcycled usage of various side streams from the forest and wood industries in Finland. This will secure a scalable and quality assured supply of high quality raw materials to Eevia and Havu for a range of extract products for various nutraceutical application.
