Maria and Marcus Seger are the couple behind Segers Mat and currently operate a café and restaurant at Classicum in Kabbard outside Staffanstorp. They were named Young Entrepreneurs of the Year (Sw: Årets Unga Företagare) in 2022 and 2021 in Skåne and Burlöv, respectively.

They are now expanding operations to Posthornet, just a stone’s throw from Lund Central Station. Segers Mat will open a restaurant on one side of the property, and a bakery and patisserie on the other. The latter will offer everything from freshly baked breakfast rolls, filling sandwiches and unique pastries to meals, all with a local connection and prepared from scratch on site. The restaurant and patisserie will both have outdoor seating and complement their offering with catering.

The first phase of Posthornet was completed in 2018 and is fully let, with a mix of operations like those of Trivector, Klaravik, Skandia, Veidekke and Folktandvården. The Swedish Prosecution Authority and HSB Skåne have previously decided to move in to the second phase of the office building development, which will be completed in 2026.

“This establishment will allow us to create a warm, welcoming meeting place that brings people together around good food, from early in the morning to late in the evening. The partnership with Vera Väliharju at Cultum Design AB for the concept and interior design will play a key role in this. After several years of looking for the perfect location for expanding our operations, everything about this location felt just right – central, yet peaceful, with character and history. We want our guests to enjoy a genuine, friendly and warm atmosphere. Opening a bakery and patisserie on Sockerkockaregatan is an exciting opportunity,” says Maria Seger from Segers Mat.
