Sweco acquires engineering company within security and smart building technology in the Netherlands
Brain of buildings provides solutions in security, fire safety, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, combining technology with sustainability to make buildings more efficient and secure. Based in Eersel, North Brabant, the company has received several awards since its founding in 2004, including the title of Smartest Company in the Netherlands.

Brain of buildings has a projected turnover of approximately EUR 5.2 million in 2025, while Sweco Netherlands had a turnover of approximately EUR 283.4 million in 2024. The company will be consolidated into Sweco immediately.
This acquisition aligns with Sweco’s acquisition strategy to grow the business by adding key skills that complement Sweco’s 22,000 experts, and it will expand the Group’s market position as Europe’s leading architecture and engineering consultancy.
Recent acquisitions by Sweco in the Netherlands include a consultancy firm with 30 consultants in civil engineering, spatial planning, mobility and urban planning, an engineering company with 60 experts as well as a leading environmental consultancy with 200 experts.
