[Curitiba, Brazil and Stockholm, Sweden 16 September 2024] – Maringá Soldas S. A., a specialist supplier of automotive cylinder heads for the aftermarket sector, has acquired a SinterCast licence for the production of Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) engine components. Under the terms of the agreement, SinterCast will install a fully automated System 4000 at the Maringá Soldas foundry located in Curitiba, Brazil, and will provide engineering support to establish a robust process for the production of CGI components conforming to the international ISO 16112 standard. The installation is planned to be commissioned during the fourth quarter of 2024.
“Compacted Graphite Iron has been the fastest growing technology in the foundry industry over the past twenty years. This cumulative growth has resulted in more than ten million CGI engines in the field, and an intense demand for CGI in the aftermarket sector” said Mr Sandro José Assolari, President of Maringá Soldas. “As the original force behind the global CGI movement, and the world leader for CGI production, properties and application, we have taken the strategic decision to align ourselves with SinterCast. This alignment ensures that our aftermarket customers will benefit from the same process control technology and metallurgical quality as the original OEM components.”
“After more than twenty years of series production, it is rewarding to see our technology adopted also for the aftermarket sector. We are pleased to develop this opportunity together with Maringá Soldas, and to continue to build on our many positive experiences in Brazil” said Dr Steve Dawson, President & CEO of SinterCast. “With commissioning planned before year-end, the System 4000 installation at Maringá Soldas provides an important contribution toward exceeding our historical installation revenue of SEK 8 million in 2024.”
