Redsense Medical's alarm system featured in KFF Health News

Redsense Medical was discussed in a KFF Health News report that highlighted the potentially fatal danger of Venous Needle Dislodgement (VND) and emphasized the need for a safety system like the Redsense alarm.

The prevalence of home dialysis has been rapidly increasing in the U.S. due to its clinical and financial upside, which has been highlighted in the 2019 executive order. More recently, the "Home Dialysis Risk Prevention Act" was introduced to the U.S. legislature, which could extend Medicare coverage to blood loss alarms and related supplies for home dialysis patients.

"Our alarm system is widely utilized and trusted in the United States, and recognition by KFF Health News reiterates the importance and relevance of our work", says Pontus Nobréus, CEO of Redsense Medical. "We are also optimistic about recent introduction of the "Home Dialysis Risk Prevention Act" and remain committed to our mission of providing innovative solutions that prioritize the safety and well-being of dialysis patients worldwide".

The article also notes the great potential for an automatic shut-off feature - currently lacking in most U.S. hemodialysis setups. "Redsense has developed an alarm version that can send a signal, which in connection to a dialysis machine could help pause the blood flow when a leak is detected", says Nobréus, "and we are always looking for new synergies to improve safety standards".
