OptiCept and Saab Sign Memorandum of Understanding For Collaboration in Thailand
OptiCept Technologies AB (‘OptiCept’) and Saab AB (‘Saab’) have today signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding to investigate a long-term partnership in the Kingdom of Thailand. This is connected with Saab’s defence and security business, and Thailand’s policies for industrial cooperation and technology transfer, to deliver wider benefits to the Thai economy.
"We are very enthusiastic about this opportunity and our collaboration with Saab. Thailand has an industry that aligns well with our technologies and this project will provide us with a strong platform to establish OptiCept for further expansion in Southeast Asia, with Thailand as our commercial hub. There are no volumes agreed, but this MoU is a foundation for the start of a negotiation with the Thai customer and Saab, and if it results in an order, it has the potential to be larger than any single order in Opticept’s history.“ says Thomas Lundqvist, CEO of OptiCept.
The MoU between OptiCept and Saab is intended to establish a long-term, comprehensive framework to explore and identify potential activities for industrial cooperation for applications in Thailand and various export markets. The focus will be on productivity improvements for the food and forestry sectors, which is a core element of OptiCept's expertise.
In Thailand, the parties have jointly identified possible opportunities in the following areas:
- Enhanced food processing and forestry efficiency in Thailand: OptiCept's advanced solutions can contribute to increased efficiency and sustainability in these sectors.
- Technology centers and knowledge transfer: OptiCept can establish technology centers in Thailand, where both OptiCept's equipment and expertise can be provided to promote local technological development and education.
- Exploration of business collaborations: particularly in the food and agriculture sectors, where OptiCept can create significant industrial value by working with local industries, research institutes and universities, as well as establishing a base in Thailand for continued expansion in Asia.
The specific definition and timing for the project and its associated activities will be decided through dialogue with the relevant authorities in Thailand. This process has not yet been initiated.
