New Patent Strengthens OptiCept Technologies’ Market Position
OptiCept Technologies AB (publ) has been granted a new patent in the United States. The patent covers critical functions that improve the efficiency and control in the generation of high-voltage pulses, which are currently used in the Company’s systems for processing liquid and solid foods.
The invention enhances efficiency and control in generating high-voltage pulses within OptiCept’s existing product portfolio and enables effective food processing with high quality. In addition, it allows for a compact design and lower production costs. This makes it possible for OptiCept to easily integrate the technology at customer sites, even where space is limited, while the reduced cost potentially opens up new markets.
"In food production today, processes such as heating, cooling, and steaming are used to produce both liquid and solid foods. We can clearly see that these are increasingly being supplemented—or in some cases replaced—by PEF technology, which makes production both more profitable and sustainable. I am convinced that every production line that can benefit from a PEF system will have one installed in the future, as market interest is high and the development toward higher capacity and lower manufacturing costs is rapid. This patent is a very important step toward fulfilling our vision—making OptiCept the world’s leading supplier of PEF technology to the food industry," says Thomas Lundqvist, CEO of OptiCept Technologies.
The patent strengthens OptiCept Technologies’ position as a leading player in high-tech solutions for pulsed electric field treatment (PEF). A patent application for this invention has also been filed in Europe and China.
