On April 10, 2024, Rolling Optics had announced its first order on material for security threads to be used in circulating currency. This order has now been converted into security thread and integrated into paper as well as printed into finished banknotes by its partner Oberthur Fiduciaire.

Today, Rolling Optics is pleased to announce that these first two printed banknotes carrying the Anima security thread will be issued by the Central Bank of Lesotho. The denominations were officially presented today by his Excellence the Governor of the Central Bank of Lesotho and Oberthur Fiduciaire on the occasion of GCF Oman 2024. .

Lesotho has an economy in transition and is focussed on durable strategies that conserve the environment and natural capital. The Central Bank has been consequent in terms of currency strategy and has the objective to create a more secure, sustainable and durable currency to protect all cash users. Both denominations carry a 4mm wide Anima thread which contain Switch and Grow movement effects of which the Switch effect is a previously never seen before effect in a lens based micro-optical security thread. The design is fully customized for the Central Bank of Lesotho to feature Lesotho's national symbol, the Basotho hat, called the Mokorotle, to support expression of Lesotho's cultural heritage.

"The first official launch of our technology on a circulating note is an important milestone for our company. We are thrilled today to participate with our partners to this official presentation.", says RO CEO Jean-Michel Guichot.
