SLG Kalmar AB wins urology tender including CoreTherm® treatments in Region Kalmar County
SLG Kalmar AB won a urology tender in Region Kalmar County including CoreTherm® treatments (TUMT).
SLG changed hands on January 1 this year, which meant that the care agreements that previous owners had with Region Kalmar County ended and the new owner did not receive a corresponding agreement, which had a major impact on the number of CoreTherm® treatments during the first half of 2022. ProstaLund estimates that just over 100 fewer treatments were performed during the first half of 2022 at SLG compared to the same period in 2021.
Region Kalmar County announced a tender of urological care to the region at the beginning of June this year. The tender aimed to offer patients specialist medical expertise in urology located centrally in Kalmar County with a contract period of 4 years. TUMT competence was seen as particular added value in the tender evaluation. TUMT stands for transurethral microwave therapy and is the basis of ProstaLund's further developed thermotherapy treatment, CoreTherm® Concept. SLG Kalmar AB won the tender and has signed a 4-year contract with Region Kalmar County.
"It is very gratifying that SLG Kalmar won the tender and has now received an agreement with the region that enables a long-term approach in the work where they can develop the CoreTherm® business. The indications we have received from SLG mean that we believe that there are very good conditions for a return to previous production levels. It is also very gratifying for all gentlemen with benign prostatic hyperplasia in southern Sweden that there is again a clinic in reasonable proximity where those who so wish can get a CoreTherm® treatment without long waiting times.", says CEO Johan Wennerholm in a comment.
