PolarCool

The medical technology company PolarCool will enter into individual agreements with the clubs in the SHL (Swedish Hockey League) during this ongoing season. Clubs that currently have agreements to provide PolarCap® include Färjestads BK, Skellefteå AIK, Örebro Hockey, Leksands IF, Modo Hockey and HV71, with dialogues ongoing with the remaining clubs in the league.

PolarCool develops the product PolarCap®, which alleviates the effects of concussions. The primary customers are sports clubs and facilities in ice hockey, rugby, football and handball, but also other sports with an increased risk of concussion.

The previous agreement with the Swedish Hockey League ensured the availability of PolarCap at all 14 SHL arenas, with 10 out of the 14 teams including treatment with the PolarCap® System in their concussion routines last season. However, the SHL has decided that league-wide agreements are only possible if all teams participate, therefore achieving a league wide agreement was not possible. Consequently, PolarCool has adapted its strategy and is now entering into individual agreements with clubs.

PolarCool CEO Erik Andersson comments;

-We can be happy that the majority of clubs that have previously used the PolarCap® System have extended their agreements, and we have positive dialogues with additional clubs. However, the club's financial challenges have affected decisions, yet we remain confident that the majority of clubs that used PolarCap® will continue and that all clubs will eventually include the treatment in their routines.

The players' association SICO remains positive in this process and emphasizes the importance of the treatment continuing to be provided to all players in the SHL, which is centered on the autonomy of each individual club in making the final decision on providing the treatment.
