Peab wins paving contract between Nordland and Troms in Northern Norway
PPP Hålogalandsvegen between Nordland and Troms is a project that Skanska has been commissioned to carry out by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. It is a large-scale development of 82 kilometers of road to improve passability and safety, and reduce travel time in the Hålogaland region. The project started in 2023 and will be completed in 2028.
For Peab the project comprises paving 179,000 tons of asphalt on the eastern side of the project. The asphalt will mainly be produced in a mobile asphalt plant in Peab's subsidiary Swerock's quarry in Lødingen. The rest of the asphalt will be produced at Peab Asfalt's plant in Harstad. Most of the asphalt will be transported by boat.
"We're happy and proud to be entrusted with carrying out this major asphalting project in good cooperation with Skanska," says Joar Caspersen, MD Peab Asfalt in Norway.
"We're very pleased with the choice of Peab Asfalt for this work. Delivery capacity and stability is assured through the combination of their fixed and mobile production plants at the same time the project has high demands on safety, climate and the environment. We look forward to working together," says Skanska's Project Manager Are Eliassen.
The paving will mainly take place during the period 2025 - 2027, with the possibility of some asphalting in 2024.
The project will be order registered in the third quarter 2024.
