Peab builds roads and railroad in Boden
Peab will build a railroad that will connect Boden Industrial Park to the main line along with roads and pedestrian and bicycle paths to the industrial area. The new railroad connection will run from the Swedish Transport Administration's existing northeast tracks to Boden Industrial Park. The railroad will then continue east past the foot of Gruvberget to curve around and connect with the Swedish Transport Administration's existing rails north of the Sävastklinten operations site.
"We're pleased and proud that Peab has been entrusted with making Boden Industrial Park accessible for future developments. Boden and all of northern Sweden are important to Peab for a number of reasons. It plays a crucial role in Sweden's future green transition. This road and railroad project is a good example and we look forward to continue to being a part of that development," says Hans Boija, Region Manager Peab.
Boden Industrial Park covers 550 acres and is expected to be one of the world's greenest industrial areas. There are good opportunities onsite to generate green electricity and establish space-intensive operations that can contribute to climate transition.
"We at Polar Structure are very pleased to be able to contribute together with Peab and Boden Municipality to the development of Boden Industrial Park and H2 Green Steel. By improving the infrastructure we are creating the right conditions for sustainable industrial growth and strengthening the region's role as a hub for green transition. We have great confidence in Peab's expertise and look forward to jointly developing the infrastructure corridor to this area," says Daniel Kronheffer, Investment Director at Polar Structure.
The project is a turnkey contract and construction will start in the summer of 2024.
The project will be order registered in the second quarter 2024.
