Peab builds fire and rescue station in Helsinki

The project comprises construction of a three story fire and rescue station. The station will house fire and ambulance personnel along with fire engines and rescue vehicles. The ground floor of the building will have space for equipment, washrooms, first responders on duty and information to the public. The second floor will contain the residential area with kitchens and dining rooms as well as lounges and a gym for personnel. A large gymnastic hall will be built on the third floor, which can also be rented out for external use.

A solar panel system will be installed on the roof of the building that will cover more than 20 percent of the total electricity need.

"We're very pleased for the opportunity to carry out this project for Helsinki City. We've built several similar fire and rescue stations in Finland in recent years so we're familiar with this type of project," says Marko Rinkinen, Region Manager Peab Finland.

The project began in June 2023 and will be completed in December 2024.

The project will be order registered in the second quarter 2023.
