NYAB signs contract for the first section of the North Bothnia Line in Umeå

The contract covers the 12-kilometer-long first section of the project, which stretches between Umeå freight yard and Sundbäck in Umeå municipality. In addition to track work, NYAB will also carry out electrical work, telecommunications, and cable laying.

"I am pleased that NYAB has been entrusted to begin the construction of the North Bothnia Line. The project fits well with our competencies, and we look forward to continuing our good cooperation with the Swedish Transport Administration and contributing to the infrastructure of the region and all of Sweden. The North Bothnia Line is a wide-ranging project in a region with great potential, and we see good opportunities to further intensify our investments in the area in the future," says Mattias Broström, Business Area Manager, Infrastructure at NYAB.

The North Bothnia Line is a 270 kilometer new coastal railway between Umeå and Luleå for faster, safer, and more environmentally friendly travel and transport, which strengthens social development and the competitiveness of businesses throughout Sweden.
