NYAB signs a contract of SEK 931 million in power line construction
NYAB announced on 24 July 2024 that it was selected as the contractor for the construction of two 130 kV power lines between Hedenlunda and Oxelösund. The award has now become legally binding and the contract for the project has been signed.
The project, commissioned by Vattenfall Eldistribution, has a total value exceeding SEK 931 million (approximately EUR 80 million) and is estimated to start in the third quarter of 2024 and be completed during 2026.
The power lines will be located in the Södermanland County, southeast of Stockholm. They will supply electricity to SSAB’s steel mill in Oxelösund, where a new electric arc furnace and related raw material handling are being constructed to enable the reduction of emissions as part of SSAB’s aim to make a transition to fossil-free production.
“We are proud to participate in this project, which is an important contribution to the industrial green transition. This large-scale contract marks a significant milestone in our energy sector expansion and showcases our competence and strength in our offerings. Together with Vattenfall Eldistribution, we have collaborated on several projects across Sweden, and we are excited to continue our successful collaboration with this project,” says Mikael Ritola, COO of NYAB.
NYAB has recently intensified its focus on power line construction with an expanded offering in the sector. With the new contract, NYAB has a wide portfolio of large-scale energy projects in Sweden and Finland.
