Netel receives large order to build full fibre networks for GoFibre
Netel in the UK has been awarded a three-year contract worth an initial GBP 10 million by Scottish independent broadband builder and provider, GoFibre. The order covers the installation of full fibre networks across Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
GoFibre is the trading name of Borderlink Broadband which was founded in Duns, in the Scottish Borders, in 2017. The company's mission is to connect hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses across Scotland and Northern England to fast and reliable full fibre networks.
Netel established itself last year in the UK through the acquisition of two British companies with a focus on fibre installations. The UK has a clear goal of improving broadband coverage. The main focus is on rolling out fibre in rural areas and the demand for extended coverage is growing rapidly.
"We are happy and proud to work together with GoFibre to improve fibre coverage," says Ove Bergkvist, President and CEO of Netel. "The UK is an attractive growth market for fibre and our goal is to create a significant position in the British market as well."
Peter Millward, Senior Delivery Manager at GoFibre, added: “Constructing full fibre networks is a complex task and as part of that, we look to experienced, reliable suppliers who meet our high standards. We look forward to working alongside Netel."
