In August 2021, NCC was contracted to build Region Västmanland’s new emergency hospital in Västerås. NCC and Region Västmanland have today agreed on production of the third of four sub-projects in total.
NCC will now complete the shell, prepare the indoor environment and install the hospital’s technical system to ensure robust and flexible emergency care. The installations entail challenging coordination with a demanding schedule so that heavy medical devices can be installed.
“In this sub-project, we are making extensive and critical preparations for the medical devices that will be installed in the new emergency hospital. It places major demands on both coordination and construction expertise for us as a contractor. Our good relationship with Region Västmanland is crucial as we now continue into the next phase of this important project,” says Niklas Sparw, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
Region Västmanland’s new emergency hospital in Västerås will include rooms for surgery and radiology, an emergency clinic, maternity facilities, intensive care unit, ward beds and clinics. Region Västmanland’s new emergency hospital is scheduled to receive its first patient in 2030.
The new sub-project will commence immediately and is scheduled for completion in 2028. The order value is approximately SEK 2.5 billion and will be registered in the NCC Building Sweden business area in the third quarter of 2024. The Region’s total budget is approximately SEK 6.8 billion, which includes the construction.
