The project includes the construction of more than 440 kilometers of new overhead power lines, extension of an existing power line corridor and the decommissioning of existing overhead power lines. The work is expected to take about ten years. Planning will begin immediately and in the next step the parties will start work on project planning and indicative costing, with construction contracts to be signed later for the sub-phases of the procurement.

NCC is experienced in constructing safe and efficient energy distribution facilities, and recently created a specialist division that gathers together the company’s expertise in major energy distribution projects. In the Gothenburg area, NCC has previously built the power line between Ingelkärr and Stenkullen and recently began a project with Svenska kraftnät to plan and construct five gas-insulated substations in Stockholm.

Svenska kraftnät has estimated that the contract is worth about SEK 7.5 billion.
