Mentice and UNICEN Announce Collaboration to Advance Cardiovascular Healthcare Technologies
Mentice, a leading healthcare technology company based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and UNICEN, a prestigious technical university located in Tandil, Argentina, today announced that they have formalized a research and cooperation agreement. The partnership aims to advance innovation in medical image analysis, treatment planning, and precision medicine technologies focused on cardiovascular disease.
The agreement solidifies an existing collaboration between Mentice and UNICEN, which commenced in early 2022 and marks a significant milestone in their partnership. Under the agreement, both institutions will undertake joint research and development projects to leverage their expertise and drive advancements in cardiovascular healthcare.
Yatiris, a medical imaging and simulation research group under UNICEN, led by Dr. Ignacio Larrabide (CONICET – UNICEN – CNEA), will collaborate closely with Mentice's research and development teams. Through this partnership, both institutions will exchange knowledge and resources, fostering a dynamic environment for innovation and scientific discovery.
Mentice will, as part of the agreement, invest in development and research projects that leverage UNICEN's expertise in computational solutions for intracranial aneurysm treatment to enhance its ANKYRAS solution. ANKYRAS is a platform that empowers users to explore device and treatment options with unprecedented detail, driving improvements in patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency. ANKYRAS was recently cleared by the FDA for marketing in the US.
According to Göran Malmberg, CEO of Mentice, "This collaboration represents a significant step forward in our mission to revolutionize cardiovascular healthcare through innovation. By combining Mentice's industry-leading technologies with UNICEN's research excellence, the partnership aims to deliver AI-improved workflows and advanced visualization to support adoption of simulation worldwide and help address the evolving needs of healthcare providers and patients worldwide."
Dr. Ignacio Larrabide, Researcher and research group leader at UNICEN's Faculty of Exact Sciences, said, "This partnership exemplifies our commitment to driving impactful research that addresses pressing cardiovascular healthcare challenges. We are excited to collaborate with Mentice and leverage our collective expertise to develop innovative solutions that have the potential to transform cardiovascular care."
The collaboration between Mentice AB and UNICEN will focus on continued exchange of researchers and students, securing research grants, advancing innovative medical technologies, and conducting clinical research related to Mentice's medical products.
