Fasadgruppen’s net-zero emissions targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative

Fasadgruppen has received approval on its near-term and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Based on a 2023 base year, Fasadgruppen commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2045.

Fasadgruppen joined the Science Based Targets initiative in summer of 2023 with a commitment to set near- and long-term company wide emissions reductions in line with science-based trajectories. Following a thorough data collection and calculation process, Fasadgruppen submitted its targets in July 2024 for validation by the SBTi.

The Science Based Targets initiative has now validated that Fasadgruppen’s emissions reductions targets conform to the criteria in the ‘Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Net-Zero Standard’, and corresponding science-based 1.5°C trajectories.

Overall Net-Zero Target: Fasadgruppen Group AB commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2045.

Near-Term Targets: Fasadgruppen Group AB commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2023 base year. Fasadgruppen Group AB also commits that 80% of its suppliers by spend covering purchased goods and services will have science-based targets by 2029.

Long-Term Targets: Fasadgruppen Group AB commits to reduce scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by 2045 from a 2023 base year. Fasadgruppen Group AB also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 97% per million SEK value added within the same timeframe.

Martin Jacobsson, CEO of Fasadgruppen said: “We are proud to have had our emissions reductions targets validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative. As a market leader in building envelopes, we want not only to be at the forefront of sustainable practices in our own business but also to drive transition within our entire industry. With the new targets in place, we look forward to further increasing our own efforts as well as working together with suppliers and customers to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045.”

The SBTi is a partnership between Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). More information can be found at https://sciencebasedtargets.org/.
