Clean Motion marks halfway milestone in EU GIANTS project, driving sustainable innovation forward
The GIANTS project aims to close the gap between small, single-purpose light vehicles and overengineered transport solutions, developing an affordable and fully adaptable platform that can serve diverse markets, from European city logistics to emerging-market passenger transport. Clean Motion plays a central role in this effort, leveraging its expertise in lightweight electric vehicle design through its EVIG platform.
"The GIANTS platform is now fully specified and currently undergoing evaluation," says William Collings, CTO at Clean Motion. "This stage is a pivotal transition from planning to physical testing. Together with partners like Valeo, we're validating different configurations on custom-built test benches. The next step is preparing materials and assembly for the demonstration vehicles. It's incredibly rewarding to see how collaboration and frugal innovation can accelerate the global shift to clean mobility."
As the project enters its second half, activity now focuses on building and testing demonstration vehicles at Living Labs in Gothenburg, Brugge, Kisumu, Delhi, and Manila. These sites will validate performance, affordability, and sustainability across different operating conditions, ensuring that the GIANTS solution can meet both environmental and economic demands worldwide.
Clean Motion's contribution is supported by its long-standing mission to deliver energy-efficient, low-resource urban mobility solutions. By adapting the EVIG platform for GIANTS, the company brings proven technology and design philosophy to a global collaborative research effort with major partners including Renault, Toyota, and Valeo. The GIANTS project embodies Clean Motion's belief in scalable, circular, and sustainable transport innovation that can serve both advanced and developing urban environments.
