Clas Ohlson's science-based climate targets validated by SBTi

“Having our climate targets validated by SBTi is an important milestone for Clas Ohlson. It gives us a clear, science-based framework for continuing to reduce emissions in our own operations and across the value chain, to develop a more sustainable customer offering,” says Helena Holmström, Director Customer, Brand and People.

The majority of Clas Ohlson’s climate impact occurs in the production of the goods it sells. To achieve its targets, the company will intensify efforts to phase out fossil fuels in its own operations, improve energy efficiency and source fossil-free electricity, and structurally increase the share of suppliers having their own science-based targets for climate action. This builds on already ongoing work, where progress has been made on the targets this year, and the continued work towards them has been integrated into everyday operations.

Clas Ohlson’s approved targets in their official wording are:

Target type Targets
Near-term targets Clas Ohlson commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90.0% by FY2030 from a FY2024 base year. Clas Ohlson also commits that 75.0% of its suppliers by spend covering purchased goods and services, will have science-based targets by FY2030.
Long-term targets Clas Ohlson commits to maintain a minimum 90.0% absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions reduction from FY2030 through FY2045 from a FY2024 base year. Clas Ohlson also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and use of sold products 90.0% by FY2045 from a FY2024 base year.
Overall net-zero target Clas Ohlson commits to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by FY2045.
