CERAMENT® G approved for Transitional Pass-Through payment (TPT)
BONESUPPORT™, an emerging leader in orthobiologics for the management of bone injuries, today announces that the American Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have approved CERAMENT G for the Transitional Pass-Through (TPT) payment as part of the 2024 Medicare Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System.
CERAMENT G has been approved for TPT for the indication bone infection, under the alternative pathway for devices that have received both breakthrough device designation and marketing authorization by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The TPT payment will be effective on January 1, 2024 and will provide outpatient facilities with incremental Medicare payment for CERAMENT G for at least two years.
The TPT payment is intended to reimburse hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers for the incremental cost of new and innovative technologies such as CERAMENT G in the outpatient setting.
CMS has previously granted CERAMENT G with the New Technology Add-on Payment (NTAP), which provides additional payment in the hospital inpatient setting.
